The History of Wrights Flooring & Carpets Ltd

Our business was started back in 1964 by local man Steward Wright.

Back then the focus was on roofing and flooring, working from a small premises in Church Street, Holbeach - a small town just a short drive from Spalding.

Local businesses knew this company was one they could rely on, and contract work quickly became the backbone of Wrights.

Eleven years after the business was set up, it took a step forward and moved to a bigger premises in Park Road, Holbeach.

As the business continued to grow, the Park Road premises was extended.

It was in the early 1980s, when the fashion for floor tiles was in decline, that Wrights saw the opportunity to move the business forward into carpets and opened a carpet showroom in Winsover Road, Spalding.

As demand for carpets grew, so once again did the business, and in 1983 Wrights moved to The Crescent in Spalding, where it is still found today. At this time the premises was split into smaller units and the carpet showroom was half the size of the one you see today.

Several years later the Holbeach premises became used to store stock, as focus shifted to the Spalding shop, which had doubled in size. Steward sold the roofing side of the business in 2000, and in 2003 he sold the carpet and flooring element.

The carpet business was sold to two of his employees Trish Souter (Stewards Sister) and Joanne Holmes.

Trish retired in 2011, while Joanne has continued to run the business. She has over 25 years experience with the company and along with her employees (some family) will be pleased to welcome and help you.
